What are Kiwohede successes?
Since its inception, Kiwohede has reached about 36,000 girls directly through interventions in their 22 counseling centers. Kiwohede has established 48 child rights promotion clubs at ward-level these clubs take into account cutting across issues ranging from psychosocial counseling, vocational skills, HIV/AIDs and STDs, employability capacity, capacity building lobbying and advocacy in our main issues in relation to Prevention of Child prostitution, protection of child domestic workers, child trafficking, and child-youth domestic violence. Kiwohede has established 56 community task forces in an attempt to gain community support and resources to protect children from abuse, violence, crime and exploitation. Kiwohede has established adolescent sexual and reproductive youth friendly and Voluntary Counseling and Testing for HIV service drop in centers in 10 districts inbuilt to other centers activities mentioned above. KIWOHEDE have also established 50 children's peer education networks in 10 districts in order to empower children participate in project implementation on issues of their concern.
This includes peer education, counseling,discussions, theatre performances, dialogues and conversations among themselves, parents, community members and government leaders are also involved. KIWOHEDE managed to put up permanent buildings in Buguruni Dar es Salaam-Headquarters, Bunju assistance centre for trafficked children in Dar es Salaam , Ilula- Psychosocial counseling centre –Iringa rural, Ivumwe Vocational training Centre for young persons Mbeya. It has created a structure fitting in local governments structures (ward authorities) In order to maximize support and exercise transparency and lay grounds for sustainability of the implemented projects.
