Terre des hommes (tdh-ch) funded Association of the Responsible Employers (ARE) Project

Association of the Responsible employers (ARE) is KIWOHEDE project aimed at bringing up together efforts of few society members who are concerned with the well being of their child domestics. Make them be the Role model in promotion and protection of the rights of child domestics.
The project was funded by Terre des hommes (tdh-ch) for one year. It has been operating within two wards Tandale and Manzese as a pilot area.

It targets all girls' child domestics below 18 years of age. It is working very closely with the Responsible employers, child domestic workers, non governmental organization and other institutions for the improvement of the current situation of child domestics. Association of Responsible Employers has established the community structure that means Responsible employers committee, local leaders and child domestics clubs. The strategies and plans have geared to build up an association of Responsible employers and promotion of good relationship between child domestic workers and their employers. Activities rendered include promotion and awareness on the labor laws and human rights, counseling, trainings and different life skill courses to enhance opportunities for future plans.

 

Establishment of Ilala Rehabilitation Centre

Kiota women's health and development organization (KIWOHEDE) under support of ILO has started to implement a program of establishing a crisis and rehabilitation center for children withdrawn from exploitive domestic work since 27 th April 2004 in Ilala District. The project is planned to be implemented in a period of seven months only targeting 300 girls working in exploitative domestic labor, where by 200 girls are for withdrawing and 100 girls are for protection. The program is aiming in providing them with shelter, food, medical care, legal aid, education and other rehabilitation and counseling services related to the consequences and hazardous situations they might have gone through.
The programme is being executed in two wards of Ilala district namely Buguruni and Vingunguti. Aiming in providing them with shelter, food, medical care, legal aid, education and other rehabilitation services. The main aim of the programme is to protect girls from exploitative domestic work through crisis and rehabilitation center
   
The program was introduced to Ilala district by conducting physical and social mapping for facts finding and sensitization workshops in two wards of Buguruni and Vingunguti through community participatory methods. Participants included communities including government leaders at ward level and community leaders were involved. Representative of the government officials as participants ranged from ward executive officers. Community development officers, health personnel, police officer and teachers. Communities was represented with participants from various community sectors this included Councilors, street chairpersons, Street secretaries, head of the mosque, church leaders and influential people, CBOs, political party leaders, women organizations, market leaders, ten cell leaders and other people from the respective community .
